Ko Yong-woo was born in 1952 and lived in Chebu-dong (one of the Sajikgol areas). In 1969, while attending high school, he heard about Song Deok-gi and Taekkyeon and became a disciple.

Ko Yong-woo lived in the same village as Song Deok-gi. Therefore, he met Song Deok-gi every day and learned Taekkyeon.

After the age of 30, Ko Yong-woo organized Taekkyeon with Lee Jun-seo (1962~), one of Song Deok-gi's disciples, who was a student of Taekkyeon National Training Center from 1983 to 1985.

In September 1985, he emigrated with his family to Los Angeles, the mecca of modern martial arts.

In the United States, he continued to organize and teach his disciples.

Since then, the existence of employment friends in Korea was first known in 2003.

In 2008, Ko Yong-woo was introduced to Korea, which was re-emerged as an article on the JoongAng Ilbo reporter blog in the America.

Ko Yong-woo visited Korea in 2008 and taught his students. He made great efforts to pass on Taekkyeon's skills learned from Song Deok-gi.

Known so far in Korea, Song's disciples were known to have learned for 3-4 years in the 1980s. However, Ko Yong-woo received a 16 year period from 1969 to 1985.

And he also learned the final stage of Taekkyeon, Taekkyeon Mugo Dance.
